SD did a good job keeping Luck off the field, but the Indy receivers did a solid job dropping everything thrown their way. Brady also deserves more love… he looks pretty sad.

This clip also kinda reminds me of Trey this week… one of a few people that rolled with SD… trying to make friends with everyone else that picked Indy… “it’s ok guys… you’ll do better next week”. Screw that! Nicely played Trey… you’re now king of the castle. It was time, Ron.

On the flip side, Johnny K also got the shaft in posting this week’s low. Time to step up the game or you’ll quickly become one of those receivers on the Patriots that has little name recognition and misses out on opportunities to touch Tom Brady.

I’m still pretty shocked at the regression of Eli Manning… perhaps it’s a case of Finkle and Einhorn. He certainly could use a clean pair of shorts.

The other goat this week is none other than one of the greatest clutch athletes in the history of the NFL… Tony Romo. You have to give him some credit as the hardest playing loser out there. Paul understands!

Bowers posted the high, but it didn’t translate into much as everyone had a shitty week thanks to the future of NY QBs… Geno Smith!?!? Wuz up in the ATL? Ron is still clinging to 1st, but like Romo in the 4th… the slip is inevitable!!

The last 5 minutes of a Bucs game have been really exciting thus far… in what creative way will we gift wrap the game to the opposing team. This week was a classic tongue twister as we peppered Patrick Peterson with piss poor passes leading to prosperous picks… At least we’re staying in games longer than the Giants.

Lori & Scott are the new Lee’s… one week a stud and the next a dud. It’s all about consistency! Sorry this week was a little late and not that entertaining… stick around Raymond James in the 4th quarter if you want to witness some real humor! The 2013 Book of Eli: 5 TDs, 8 INTs. The Giants are shaping up to be the biggest disaster of the season. It’s a sad day when Tony Romo is the better man.

The better woman this week… Lori! Very nice work in a difficult week where most of us put up Buc-esque numbers. Like your Colts, all you needed was a little Luck (ha!). Scott scored more like the Giants this week… we’re starting to wonder if he signed up thinking this was a pool for South American Futbol.

Ron is starting to slow down… similar to NFL teams that start 0-3, pool statistics show that the leader through the first 3 weeks doesn’t typically hang in for a payout. The crown is getting heavy, Ron!

After a lot of hype, the first two embarrassing games have clearly indicated that…

They do get the benefit of being in a division with two other shit shows: The Giants and always a pool favorite… the Cowboys! Post another 68 like this past week, and the dude in the picture above will be holding a personalized sign for you, Mr. Jones. It might say “Gary Sucks” or something worse so just be careful.

Deon dropped a monster number on us. We all should feel a bit like SF… all around good team that just got steam rolled this week. Very nice work Deon, but again I’m not too concerned as Ron is in first place so we can all be certain that there is a current imbalance in the universe.

In the event you did not submit your AFC & NFC SB picks… it’s a good indication that you are probably going to lose this year and aren’t well versed in that little thing called “reading”. Good luck and make sure to get your picks in by Thursday!

Before we get into all the highs and many many lows of the week, a reminder that your picks are due before the start of the game on Thursday. Also, in the body of this particular email, please send your picks for the SB… remember only one AFC and NFC team so the Bucs and Jets could in fact have a rematch. Riiiiiiiight.

Yup… that was pretty stupid

We’ve got 41 participants this season which makes a lot of sense considering how great the pool is along with those who run it. This is much different than the slop we were subjected to in most likely one of the few televised Bucs games this season. The good news is that this was probably the only game that anyone felt comfortable with picking the Bucs and they successfully stated their case for us not to roll with them on any future Thursday/Sunday/Monday. Free Agent Freeman! Free Agent Freeman!

You know it’s kind of a fluky week when you see Lee Nelson as our leader. Lee has vowed to play until at least week 8 this season and he’s always a focal point in our side bets. It’s also strange to see Ron so close to the top. No need to panic, this week is a complete aberration thanks in part to RG1.5… he really only played the second half (RG3 x 50% = RG1.5). Tina… I had a couple things typed out but I can’t be mean to you this early in the season. However, Scott… I know you asked if all you needed to do is fill out the sheet each week. I guess Rob didn’t explain that you want to try to score as many points as possible. Chalk it up to week one, but no excuses going forward… do better!

It’s on playas (play-a as in slang vs. playa as in “la playa” or beach in ingles… “it’s on beaches” also makes sense in a Birdcage kinda way I guess). I know many of you are getting pretty antsy as dry season is coming to a closure (yes… great irony in sports dry season being meteorological wet season… I have a good chuckle every night). We’ve already received 372 emails; 46 of these have been from Ray French, 7 from Deven proclaiming that Tony Romo will be the best statistical QB in the game this season (and not in the sense of most completions to opposing teams), 1 from Carrie reflecting upon some dirty RG3 fantasy that I had to stop reading and go take a shower, and the other 318 I sent to myself from work. We’ve also had a lot of verbal inquiries and it looks like most past participants are game to take a shot at the crown! Shazaam.

With continued parity in the league, this could be an extremely challenging season to predict. Young UF players have also displayed immense class when gifted extraordinary opportunities. Hernandez… Cooper… Tebow is just happy to show up at any team’s practice session and should lay a shoulder into these a$$ clowns. Will the Bucs make it to the playoffs… the Saints look like their former selves… the Patriots figure out plan d… Greenbay have a defense… the Jets win a game… perhaps Denver take the title… Lee make it past week 7?? Should be a great season and we look forward to having everyone back that would like to play. The pool will function the exact same way as in the past… with Rob and/or myself winning. From here on out… website… check it… read it… learn it… respect.

About the only conspiracy theory I’ll bite on is the bonus halftime SF was granted to try to get their shit together… and they almost did. But for all those SF lovers, “almost” didn’t cut it this season. They’ll have many more opportunities but experience prevailed… particularly when SF decided to change their entire offensive approach on 1st in goal on the 6th to win the game. This proved true in our fantastic little pool finale as well. The only big move was an upset finish by Meghan… overtaking Bob and Art by ignoring all the hype and sticking to the basics. Pro style.

The lesson we should all take home this off-season… good things come to those who are possibly guilty but stay out of prison. Checks are going out this week!

We have us a mighty Super Bowl! The battle of the Harbaugh brothers was a pretty epic, low scoring affair last season. However, this one might play out a little differently as both offenses seem to have taken a dramatic shift for the positive this season. While several folks called this one at the beginning of the year, Hytree secured the Hot Tub by riding the brothers until the very end. Technically, he doesn’t even need to show any disrespect in making a final SB choice… the Hot Tub is all his thanks to picking both games correctly and receiving 30 extra points for the big prediction. Nice work Bill… congrats!

The main pool is a different beast. The top 3 spots are guaranteed money (which is good because I’ve spent most of it already)… but how much is still in the air. The guy in first could not create enough distance on the French Assassin (back with a vengeance this season) and Rob. 4th place will also be a fight to the finish… Art, Bob, and Meghan are all in the hunt. If I didn’t call your name, you can sit down… you’re a loser. Just kidding :). However, we do understand if you choose not to submit your final pick… but it is your final pick and we always encourage everyone to finish as strongly as they start (which should be pretty easy for some). Pool philosophy… plus why not get your full money’s worth! If you don’t check back, we hope everyone had an excellent season… I’m sorry the blogs got a little spotty and will do better next year!
