Week 18 – Candy Rain

Marshawn_CandyRainI was pulling for the Skins… but the shenanigans outsmarted themselves by jeopardizing a broken toy. Although a 10% functional RG3 can beat the Cowgirls… the Seahawks are legit and this one wasn’t a good bet. Hopefully RG3 is good to go for next season. Beast Mode continues to indulge in candy rain for another week.

It’s a tight race for money on both ends of the pool. We have a 3 way tie going on in the hot tub and tons of jockeying in the main pool for a top spot. I have a feeling it will all come down to the Super Bowl as usual!

Good luck this week and get your picks in before the games start on Saturday!

Week 17 – The last one for the Boyz

RG3I’m sorry if you picked the Cowboys. This was a dumb selection and you should known better. RG3 could have played the entire game from a seated position with a broken arm and in blind folds and Dallas still would have lost. All he had to do with hand the ball off every play and Dallas was perplexed. The Ryan brothers are pretty smart… I think Rex is up for a promotion. Tony Romo’s interception cannon also did the trick.

Happy New Year! This is the first week of playoffs and as you know… every game is a wager game! The point allocations are also spread out some to add an additional swing factor. Basically if you’re in the top 10 or so, you can still grab a money position (not to discourage anyone from finishing no matter where you’re at in pool life). In the past, we’ve also seen people go from 1st to 10th pretty quickly (… not to mention any names… Bob).

Picks are due before the start of the games on Saturday… good luck!

Week 16 – Sleepless in San Francisco

Not a good game to bet against the 12th man. Colin Kaepernuts looked like a reindeer in the fog (/cold rain) without a luminescent nose against a top rated defense. Bob… the sports almanac you received from your time traveling future self must have cut off after the earlier games… time to refuel the DeLorean.

The Skins got a nice early Christmas gift as the Cowboys lost at home (easy pick) and the Giants continued their downward spiral in back-to-back blow outs. Next Sunday night should be fun!

We hope everyone has a happy holiday and picks are not due until Sunday. You have a nice long week to regroup, eat leftovers, and reflect on how to turn this season around. Playoffs are coming up and with all wager games it’s still (almost) anyone’s cash!

Week 15 – Clipboard Time

After 10 too many starts (or over 30 if you count the past few seasons), the Jets may  finally allow Sanchez to reach his full potential. No more Monday night games, so Sunday nights will be wagers until the playoffs begin… this Sunday being a potential doozy. Also… no more Thursday night games so this week all picks are due before the game on Saturday night. Good luck… feel free to slow down at any time, Bob.

Week 14 – You Gotta Keep Laughing

… and smiling. If only every Cardinal had this attitude. They’d be just as sorry, but at least happy. A lot of you bet against Brady at home against a Texans team that essentially plays in the ACC given their soft division. Thanks Art… I know you’re just trying to make it interesting! Hopefully more to come at some point this week. If not, I’m tired of hearing about how incredible the Eagles’ comeback was. I should have known better than to ever put double digits on the Bucs.

Week 12 – I’m not a turkey but I like turkey

Look… I know it’s suspect that I barely have time to run this show and yet my big pickins have been superior to most. It’s really not all that surprising considering the mind in question :). Anyhow, I’ll write more about the beat down suffered by the Jets, Cowboy, Packers, McDowell, & Sampson at some point this week, but I wanted to give everyone a quick heads up that all the rankings and payouts are up to date (and the latest pick sheet has been posted). Good thing Rodgers sported that fancy mustache to assure everyone of his manliness… Sampson take note.

Week 11 – Easy as Pie

Since pies can actually be quite difficult to bake (I get to watch Meghan), I guess the phrase really means they are easy to eat due to golden deliciousness. Before the recap, this week is the beginning of the Hot Tub! Similar to the hokie pokie, this is an opportunity to turn yourself around and shake off a shitty performance in the pool thus far. You can find more info in the rules. Basically you can flop out of the main pool into a winner take all side pool… all scoring works the same. All you need to do, is say ‘Hot Tub’ when you submit your picks this week and we’ll handle the rest. If you don’t check back in, don’t forget to get your picks in by Thursday and have a happy Thanksgiving! More to come later…

… Weak 9 & 10

Sorry my blog performance has been much weaker than my pool performance :). I can always count on Meghan for an extra push! Everyone gets points for the SF/STL tie… not so much either team’s kickers.

It’s hard to believe the last post came before Dougie Fresh exploded against the Raiders… so this week we’ll keep it fricky-fricky-fresh. As I briefly mentioned, Senor Gonzalez brought the perfect storm last week vaulting him back into relevancy. This past week, Trey continued his steady climb into the top 10 with the playas. I had to check my math a few times just to be certain, but this is correct! Could he be showing some of that 2009 form?

I forgot who posted the low last week, but I’d probably bet on Lee. He’s on a pretty regular schedule at this point… at least he keeps turning in his sheet. Sometimes winning is just about finishing something you’ve started… nice effort this year, Lee. It’s a very similar scenario in that movie Lucas. Corie Haim just wants to be a jock and get the girl… he tries really hard, cries a lot, gets hurt, and eventually fails. I think he gives up and becomes a water boy or mascot or something. He does enough to get a letter jacket or at least be given one from a friend. We’re actually looking for a mascot for next season…

I’m sorry that my schedule has been a little off, but I appreciate everyone’s concerns… I didn’t realize anyone really reads my crap. Everything is good… just started a new job and the schedule has been extremely demanding. I’ll get back into the flow, so don’t give up on me! I also don’t want to give up on receiving some cash from a few outstanding individuals. Since the hot tub starts in week 12, I added a little payment list to the updated standings. I know everyone else is equally busy and it’s easy to forget, but please send me the dinero when you get a second. Good luck this week!

Week 9 & 10…

I’m sorry to all my football peeps… my priorities are clearly misaligned and I’ll get back on track this Thursday and post the updated standing as well. I owe big Bobby G some big kudos for posting the ever elusive perfect score in week 9. You have been memorialized in my spreadsheet archive for all eternity. Also, the Jets are the real deal! I did post the pick sheet, so get them in by Thursday!

Week 8 – The Girls are back in Town!

Everyone did a great job submitting picks to my other email address! Please continue to do so or start this week if you didn’t… ryhuey@gmail.com

One of my favorite songs is the Thin Lizzy classic, “The Boys are back in Town”. Maybe I should have kept this to myself. One thing is for certain, out of the top 3 effeminate QBs (Sanchez, Romo, and Vick… in that order), Sanchez appears to be the only one currently dating his coach. This doesn’t mean that Romo hasn’t tried to pursue intimate relations with any coaching staff… just that Jerry hasn’t given the final order down yet. Deliver us from Eva!

Paul… it’s clear that you’re just along for the ride in Carrie’s Skinnebago (ha). However, at this point I’m more embarrassed for Carrie and the rest of the family. Your riding in a lonely back seat after a big dive on Arizona that landed you with 19 points. Carrie and Art… get your peeps straight!

We do have a new fearful leader… Peter… rah! We hope you’re doing well in NYC, but need you to tone in down a bit with your pool consistency thus far. Maybe start forgetting to turn your sheet in or something…

Doug started his typical mid-season surge with the high score this week. If only he can close this year… we believe in you Doug… you’re always so close!! Good luck to everyone and get your picks in by Thursday!
