Week 8 – What can a Brown do for you?

McCoy vs WeedenWhen we all sat down to sip on our Cowboy Kool-Aid on Monday night, we clearly miscalculated the possibility of duel between two QBs that couldn’t even keep a roster spot on the Browns. Having said, it’s only fitting that our lone Cleveland fan, Captain Ron, is sitting on the far end of the bench this week. In fairness, I can’t really remember if he’s a true Cleveland fan, or just a normal guy that collects Hoyer, Weeden, McCoy, and Manziel jerseys.

Another pool newb, Kyle breaks onto the scene after a very difficult week. Hopefully he’s going to help me realize my football pool dream next season… pick submission right on our bad ass website! Only one thing to say about that…koolaidGood luck this week and… oh yeah… don’t forget your picks! (see that… another clever way to use ‘oh yeah’).

Week 7 – Triumph!

In the spirit of the timeless and frustrating game of ‘keep away’, Rich along with several of us are trying as hard as possible to stay out of a money spot. As if being in the bottom this week wasn’t enough… your awesome wife Cassie managed to double your score. All good though… to make you feel a little better, if I picked every game correctly and Meghan failed to submit her picks this week, she’d still be ahead of me. Sigh……. sad face.

As far as our pool is concerned, Danita’s redemption completely overshadows Peyton Manning’s historic TD achievement. In real life not so much, but at least when the question “what week of what NFL season did Peyton Manning break the TD record?” pops up on one of those impossible trivial pursuit cards at the local pizzeria, you’ll be hard pressed not to remember the answer. So yea… you’ll probably forget, but just think 7 of 14′.

Halloween is coming up… the Bucs play this week… scary! Good luck and get your picks in!

Week 6 – The Taste of America

There were several surprises this week… I’ll make a list:

1. Chris May had the high score for the second time this season and now sits just outside a money position. There’s no real explanation for this other than the solid coaching he received before the season started. 5th place does receive a personalized Ryan Tannehill 8×10 picture… so Chris might be holding up here for a while.ryan_tannehill_35

2. Bengals and Panthers end in a tie thanks to the golden boot of Mike Nugent… no relation to Ted Nugent (much cooler musician/hunter/entertainer, camo boots, allegedly defecated in Saddam Hussein’s golden toilet / bidet while visiting US troops in Iraq in 2004). In the event of a tie game, everyone get’s their points. In case anyone was wondering… everyone picked the Bengals.

3. The Bucs got blown out and had just shy of 21 yards of total offense within the first 25 minutes of the game. I guess this wasn’t really a surprise.

4. America’s Team is 5-1. When will they revert back to the Cowboys that make our pool lives so interesting?? Ray French just put his Jerry Jones poster back up!NFL: Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers

5. Danita had the low score this week… surprising because she is incredibly intelligent and beautiful. I’m pretty certain this won’t happen again!

Good luck this week!!!

Week 5 – Run Russell Run!

run-russell-runSimilar to the Hawk’s Monday Night victory, it comes at no surprise that the high score this week went to the phenomenal performance of a Huey… no… not Meghan or Mark, the one towards the bottom of the rankings. Oh… it also went to Jack who seemed to gain a lot more ground from it! I don’t know jack about picks this year… ha! I just want to put everyone on notice, that the nice cushion lead I’ve given 85% of you is officially over… the Bucs are also going to play the Jets in the Super Bowl.

harrydunneAnd now Harry Dunne from Dumb and Dumber reflects on Lori’s play so far this season… “Just when I thought you couldn’t possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this… and totally redeem yourself!”

Carie… you didn’t do much better, but Washington put up a lot more fight than I anticipated. More importantly, Kirk didn’t throw any touchdowns to the other team.

Good luck this week and get your picks in on time!! Also… time to send me your entrance fee… the ponzi scheme doesn’t work without everyone’s!

Week 4 – Drugs

sadI pre-selected this image… but the beat down of the Bengals served as Tom Brady’s pain meds for his media headache. Speaking of drugs… when Mr. Gonzalez (my grandfather for those of you who are unfamiliar with the legend) submitted his picks, instead of our weekly discussion of the Bucs, the email read something like: “asfer hjkeae zlkasdfj… dental work… did these picks kinda high”. Based on his results, today’s society has a real misconception on the benefits of narcotics. Nice work… from now on I’m coming over to your place to work on my picks with you and ‘the stuff’!

Carie sent me an email talking some mad s%$t. I may be sucking wind thus far, but Seattle’s defense should score at least 18 points against Captain Kirk on Monday night. You better hope your Washingtonians pull off the upset or you might be on the hot seat again as our new Lori… who I’ll add did much better this week :). See… I’m nice!

Good luck!! As Russell would say… Go Hawks!

Week 3 – Dismay

1411147862000-919-sandersI wish I had a better excuse for the update delay… work not being one of them. The truth is that when I explained to Chris that he posted the high this week, it became quite an emotional moment (several days of tears to be precise). Picture the image to the right but with two less successful albeit better looking white guys… it’s taken some time to regroup and get the dust out of my eyes.

Not to be overlooked, Doug had a sneakily good week. You’ve upset Meghan… not a good thing!

Lori set a new pool record… since our 2007 inaugural season, no one has successfully submitted the lowest score for more than 2 consecutive weeks. You’ve unseated some greats and have completely stolen Lee Nelson’s thunder this season. Pure awesomeness!

Good luck this week… if you haven’t figured it out, the Bucs should pretty much have the highest point value bet against them from this point on (Lori… take note!).

Week 2 – Philadelphia Cream Cheese

… Post coming soon, but in the meantime pick sheets and scores are posted. While Meghan is starting to pity da foo a la Mr. T… Lori just continues to act a fool according to the great Ludacris (aka Christopher Bridges).

littlesprolesSo yea… that little bastard Sproles decided to spoil what could have been a good week. Shady just wasn’t the real McCoy… ha! If I take back what I said about the Bills, will they turn back into their usual predicable form… Similar to Dale who now shares a spot at the top with the better Huey?!? Let’s just say that after all my smack talk through half time of Monday night… I’m just glad Meghan rarely stays awake past 10pm. Hytree had the top score so I’ll just focus on that… nice work Bill!

Lori… not so good. These performances are becoming about as bad as the Bucs… your only saving grace is that you’re playing in a league of all-stars vs. third string QBs. Step that game up!

Good luck this week and get your picks in on time!

Week 1 – About them Benjamin’s

unfairIf you google Derek Anderson, you’ll likely find a bunch of images of the NBA guy that ended his career and moved onto funding concaine rings with cohort Zach Randolph… getting their Portland territories on lock down. While also a journeyman (but not yet a narcotics dealer), the other Derek Anderson has been thrust into 2 regular games for the Panthers since 2011. During his extensive time in those games, he threw for a gross total of 4 yards prior to this past Sunday. I officially trust the Bills more than the Bucs.

It’s no shocker that Gary Jones had a big week… with a few exceptions at the top, if you look at the majority of folks that typically do well… this week was a statistical outlier. Romo’s multiple pick performance pretty much represented our only accurate prediction. Look at Pizza Boy Ron for example… what’s he doing up there. In seriousness… nice work Gary… good weekend for your Gators and Dolphins too!

Lori… it’s too early in the season for that crap. If you’re buying any of that stuff from the other Derek… stop. We care about you and drugs are bad.

Week 2 Pick sheets are posted. Don’t forget to include in this weeks email who you’re picking for the Super Bowl (NFC + AFC teams). If you don’t pick teams… you’re dumb and losing out on points at the end of the season. Also, please send me the $25 in the event you haven’t yet. Good Luck this week… Monday night could be interesting!

2014 Time!

The man! We’ve been fielding a lot of questions on what the dili is for the 2014 season. If you’re a Bills, Steelers, Cowboys, Giants, or Redskins fan… yes, your season will still suck… but at least you’ll have the pool to look forward to in addition to bye weeks!  A rookie won the big money last season and now walks amongst the greats of seasons past… but now it’s time for Stacie to kick the crown back my way. Everyone knows the drill… please send over the $25 by the second week of the season. If you have an invite… we’ll welcome some new participants to grow our list from last year… just point them to the site, learn ’em, and have them send me an email.

The first pick sheet has been posted and is due before kickoff on 9/4! Good luck!!

Week 21 – The Toilet Bowl

I wish there was a reset button… after that initial safety the most exciting thing about that game was Bruno Mars’ sweet dance moves. Seattle really did “take it away”… several times in that epic beat down.

halftime

Our overall winner this year is… Stacie! Pretty remarkable for a newb and reminiscent of the great Ray French’s first season. Stacie is also the first female to ever win the pool… and Cassie joins her as the first duo to take home some winnings. Represent for the home girls, yo. Inglewood. Ballantine also went all in on the Hawks and climbed the polls to finish in 2nd.

Needless to say, this was a rough one for Rob, Cassie, and the Frenchman who all ended up on the wrong side of the big bet. But you’re still winners in all of our books (except the one that Stacie, Jeff, and Sampson wrote). We’re glad everyone had a great season… now life sucks for another 7 months! I’m betting on the big Huey comeback next season!!

P.S. For those that I owe money to… please shoot me an email with your address so I can ship the big winnings! Don’t get cute… I know who won and who didn’t!! Peace.
